Sharing Your Faith

If you were sharing your faith and someone looked at you and said but how do you know that God loves you? What would you tell them? Let me give you two suggestions but before I do, let me ask you, do you know that God loves you? I John 4:16 says, “we have known and believed the love that God has for us.” It is one thing to know it, but do you believe that God loves you?

Too many Christians are living lives that are defeated with no joy or peace and when I see them and talk with them, they act as if they have the burdens of the world on their back. Why? Because they truly don’t’ believe that they are the appl of God’s eye, they are the beloved child of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. When I talk with them they tell me of what they need to do or what they are going to do. They are not resting in the finished work of Jesus.

So how do I, Lee Cruse, the preacher whom Jesus loves, know that God loves me? I am glad you asked. Our Lord gives us a wonderful illustration in Abraham. God told him to take his son, his only begotten son, the son whom he loved and offer him up as a sacrifice. Of course, in the story the Angel of the Lord stopped him and then the Lord said something significant. The Lord said, “now I know that you fear me” and that you love me. This whole story is an illustration of God our Father who to prove to you that He loved you took His only Son, His only begotten Son, the Son who was His beloved Son and sacrificed Him for you and I. Now you know that He loves you, because He took His only Son, His only begotten Son and allowed Him to die in your place.

There is another reason. Romans 8:15 “but you have received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” Abba means Daddy. If you will allow the Holy Spirit to work in your life, He will tell you that you are loved because He said He would. Oh, that you would tell your Father in Heaven, “Lord, lead me by your wonderful Holy Spirit to be led to know I am your beloved. I believe He will grant that request and your life will never be the same.
