I Corinthians 3:16-17: “Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.“
When you read in the Old Testament the building of the Temple and how David wanted to build God a house yet, the Lord would not allow David to build it, for David was a man of war. But, He allowed the Temple to be built by David’s son Solomon.
The Building of Solomon’s temple was so magnificent that even the Queen of Sheba came to see it. When the Temple was finally finished and they brought the Ark of Covenant in, the Spirit of God came into the Temple and it was so heavy that the priest could not minister.
People came to the Temple to worship the Lord God Almighty. When Jesus came and He talked to the Samaritan women at the well in John 4:21-23 Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father. You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.
That hour has come, and believe it or not, if you have surrendered your life to Christ you are that temple. The question that is proposed is, do you know? Do you know that when you get up in the morning you are the temple that your family sees? When you go out and your neighbor see you, you are the temple of God. When you go to work those you work with, you are the living temple of God.
The Spirit of the living God lives in you and therefore you are the demonstration to others of who Jesus is. How important that you see yourself the way that God the Father sees you. For the temple of God is holy. The only way that you and I can be holy is because II Corinthians 5:21 tells us For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
Do people want to worship the Lord because of your influence, because they see Jesus in you? And why should they? Because you are the temple of God and the Spirit of God dwells in you!
Pastor Lee Cruse, the very reason that we read our righteousness in Christ every Sunday Morning is so that each one of us will begin to believe who we are in Christ Jesus, for then we will be victorious.
