Isaiah 6:8: “Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”
Isaiah at one time had it made under the kingship of King Uzziah but Uzziah had died and everything begin to change.
How we are like the frog in the frying pan that gets so comfortable until the heat get so hot that it is too late. Isaiah had a good thing going at one time and the King had gone along with him. Although the King had died and Judea was experiencing turmoil at the death of their king, the Lord gave Isaiah a vision of the true king, and he was seated high on His throne in sovereign glory. Thus, Isaiah learned that the Kingdom of God operates according to His will and not according to outward circumstances and if we will embrace this kingdom principles it will change our lives.
We need to understand that many times when our circumstances change that it is God’s hand that is moving it. How we love for things to stay the same and thus we think we are doing what the Lord wants but then everything changes and the Lord open up new doors and new opportunities.
God told the early disciples that they would be witnesses for Him in Jerusalem and Judea and Samaria and to the end of the earth (Acts.1:8), but they saw results in Jerusalem of thousands coming to the Lord. We are like those that have a good thing going and we ask why move, but the Lord wants the gospel to go to the end of the earth and thus He allowed persecution and martyrdom and they had to move.
When the disciples were out in the boat on the Sea of Galilee and the storm was ragging and they were afraid they were going to die, Jesus came to them walking on the water. He got into the boat, and said “peace be still” and the waves and the wind obeyed Him. The disciples said, what manner of man is this that even the wind and the waves obey Him? If the disciples had not been out in that storm they would have not experienced that life changing moment.
When our circumstances change like it did for Isaiah, he saw the Lord high and lifted up and the train of His robe filled the temple. The longer the train, the greater the power and authority of the person. But Isaiah, in that moment, said he himself was undone and unclean, then he saw the people as being unclean.
Isaiah saw himself in a negative circumstance, and when we find ourselves in that kind of situation we can either give up or we can do what Isaiah did. When he heard the Lord say in Isaiah 6:8, “whom shall I send and who will go for us” Isaiah realized in this negative environment was God opening a door of opportunity for Him. Thus, He spoke up and said “Then I said Here am I send me”. God will use those who see the opportunity in the direst of circumstances and serve the Lord.
