Psalms 133:1-3 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious oil upon the head, running down on the beard, the beard of Aaron, Running down on the edge of his garments. It is like the dew of Hermon, descending upon the mountains of Zion; For there the LORD commanded the blessing-Life forevermore. The word “koinonia” is used for fellowship and Communion as a noun. The noun is used in the New Testament as an expression of close fellowship or close relationship that exist between believers and God. In I john 1:3 that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. Koinonia can also be used in the sense of participation or sharing in something, such as Christ sufferings, it can also refer to acts of unity, for example, to gifts or contributions. We live in a time where most people are what is called spectators rather than participants. A spectator is a person who sits in the stands and watches what a few others are doing. I don’t believe that is what the Lord had in mind when HE designed the Church. I have had people come to me and ask how they can get involved. Here is what I would say to a person that the Lord is leading in this way. It was Henry Blackaby who said when you are trying to find out God’s will for your life, go to those people who you see are working in ministry and join them in what they are doing. In doing so you will begin to find out what it is that God is wanting you to do. It may not be that specific ministry but the Lord will then begin to show you. One of the most neglected things in the life of many Christians is Spiritual Gifts. This is an ability or desire that God has equipped you to do. In Romans 12:4-8 the Lord has given you one of those spiritual gifts Paul tells us not to neglect the gift the God has given us in I Timothy 4:14. Now, some will say they are too shy or doubt that God has done a work in their life and that He is calling them to a ministry, but that is not true. Remember that we as Christians are called to walk by faith and not by sight. So, that means there are times that we have to launch out to trust the Lord. That may mean you take the first step and stop waiting on someone to come to you, you may need to go to them. Proverbs 18:24 says A man who has friends must himself be friendly, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. Pastor Lee Cruse who believes that there are those within this fellowship that could be a blessing to so many different areas. We need to expand our Children’s ministry with people who love children and are willing to teach. I am praying the Lord will send those people to fill that void. If you do not know what your spiritual gift is, we have ways that we can help you to discover what it may be.
