The Bible Says give thanks to the Lord for all of His many benefits. I have thought about this quite a bit as we are celebrating 250 years since the Declaration of Independence was signed. I have also been evaluating my prayer life and I have concluded that almost all of my prayers are asking My Father in Heaven for something. I began to think, when have I gone to Him in prayer and just sat in His presence and simply praised Him, and thanked Him for all that He has done for me and this church? If your children only came to you when they needed something then that would not be much of relationship. For 250 years the Lord has blessed this county, and yes, I do believe that this country was founded on Judeo Christian beliefs and it was established by God fearing men who had great character. America was God’s plan that He directed and brought to pass from Christopher Columbus who had Christian principles, for just look at the names he gave to the islands he landed on. To the Puritans and the Pilgrim’s that came here for one great reason which was that they wanted to be able to worship God the way the scripture tells us to and not be forced to live life under the direction of the Church of England. To the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence knowing that it would put their life on the line, and it did, many lost their lives and their homes, but they wanted to be free. It has been called the Great Experiment. No other people or civilization had ever developed a Country that one of the common beliefs was that its people would govern themselves. When the final draft of the writing of the Constitution was drafted and Benjamin Franklin was coming out of Independence Hall, there was a lady who asked him, “Well, Mr. Franklin, what do we have? Do we have a Republic or a Monarchy?” Benjamin Franklin the oldest delegate, replied “We have a Republic if we can keep it!” There in is the problem, is America the greatest country that has ever been? Will it continue to survive or will it fall as so many other empires have? The truth is we know the answer and the solution, if we as a people will turn to the living God II Chronicles 7:14 the United States will survive. For it says if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. If America is to survive then there must be a turning to the Lord and asking His blessing upon us. Independence Day

The truth is we know the answer and the solution, if we as a people will turn to the living God, II Chronicles 7:14 says the United States will survive. For it says, “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” If America is to survive then there must be a turning to the Lord and asking His blessing upon us.
