Matthew 12:36 “But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. One organ that I have trouble with is my tongue. There have been times that I have engaged my tongue before I have put my brain in gear. In those times I have not been walking in the Spirit, when the Bible over and over again tells us that the only way we can live the Christian Life is when we are controlled by the Holy Spirit. In 36 years of ministry the one thing that I hate is when someone without thinking says something that discourages others or they want to tell someone something that the Holy Spirit has not yet confirmed to them that this is something that they know is true. The Bible in Ephesians 5:15 tells us “See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise. The word circumspectly means to be careful to consider everything before acting. How important it is that we learn to listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit before we say anything. There are reasons for doing this. 1. Does what I am about to say glorify the Lord? If it doesn’t then don’t say it. 2. Is what I am about to say going to enhance my testimony to others or will it hurt it? 3. What I am about to say, do I know for sure that this is true? Proverbs 18:13,15,17. 4. This is very important, who is it that will hear what I am about to say? Will this build them up? Will this cause them to grow closer to the Lord? If this is a new Christian will this be something that causes them to doubt? I say all this because through the years I have had to go to people who have had something said to them that was so discouraging, or something said at a wrong time in their life that caused them to turn back from the Lord and many times, I was not able to help bring them back. I have had people who have said to me “well I tell it like it is and I don’t hold back”. Those words that we say that are not directed by the Holy Spirit will be those words that God says every idle word we may speak, they will give account in the day of judgment. Now is it easy to control your tongue? No, it is not, for the Book of James tell us in Chapter 3:2-5 For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body. Indeed, we put bits in horses' mouths that they may obey us, and we turn their whole body. Look also at ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires. Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindle! Pastor Lee Cruse who realizes I need to walk in the Spirit every day so that I can be an encourager to others and not a hindrance therefore the Lord can use me.

One organ that I have trouble with is my tongue. There have been times that I have engaged my tongue before I have put my brain in gear.
