Our Father’s Promise

John 10:27-29: “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand.”

If you have sat under my teaching and preaching very long, you will recognize that this is one of my favorite scriptures. The Lord is telling us of His promise to us. If we will come to Him and follow Him, He promises us we shall never perish and that no one or anything can take us out of His hand. This is our Heavenly Father’s promise. 

How unlike the human race is to Him, because how many times has someone promised to do something for you, or told you not to worry that they would take care of it? Only to find out some time later, that they didn’t do what they said they would do, or they went back on their word.

Oh, but how our Lord is not like that. Titus 1:2 tells us about the God who cannot lie. Isaiah 55:11 tells us that His word will not return to Him void or empty but will accomplish what He set it out to do.

Do you know in Hebrews 6 God looked for someone who would back Him up in what He had planned for the redemption of man but He couldn’t find anyone? So, He confirmed His oath by two immutable things, Himself and Himself.

When two men made a covenant with one another, they took five animals as sacrifice and split them in half then they walked through them. When God made a covenant with Abraham the Lord put Abraham to sleep, He confirmed it by Himself.

Pastor Lee Cruse. You and I have been born into God’s family through faith in Jesus Christ. And as His children of the Father we have His explicit promise that He will keep us as His own. Paul said that “God had placed His seal upon us”. So, rejoice.
