Isaiah 43:21: “This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise.“
There is a couple of moments in the life of every one of us the world seems to pass us by and we are forced to eat the bread of loneliness. No matter what stage a person is in at the time, or no matter who that person is we all have at some point and time felt the piercing pang that comes from the knowledge that in this busy world about us we are unnoticed, unneeded, or unwanted.
There is no pain like the pain that comes when the world in general has found us to be expendable. The human heart cries out against the aching pain of loneliness!
We must realize that the writers of the Bible in both the Old and New Testaments speak of a people that have a very special relationship to the Lord God Almighty.
Peter realized this and was inspired to write in I Peter 2:9-10: “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light; which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.“
In God’s kingdom there is no room for aloneness or loneliness, no room for feeling unnoticed, unneeded, or unwanted. We are members one of another, said Paul in Romans 12:5.
You and I were not members of God’s family by virtue of our natural birth. We became “His Own” through the covenant of Holy Baptism. Paul said this clearly when he said in Galatians 3:26-27. “For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.“
How the world wants to put you and me into their mold but the Lord has told us that we belong to Him and Him alone. So, the next time you begin to feel lonely or unappreciated remember who you are. You are a child of God and your Lord has told you that He will never leave you or forsake you. And He told you that He would stick closer than a brother.
Pastor Lee Cruse, who in those times that I feel unappreciated and lonely, look to Jesus and I realize that it is in Him that I live and move and have my being.
