John 4:34 Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work. In the last few weeks, I have tried to give you a picture of your Heavenly Father. We have talked about your Father’s world, His love, His care, His promise and even our Father’s face. That’s our Fathers will. Today I want to give you another aspect of just who your Heavenly Father is. Remember that Jesus was God in the flesh and He told us that if we had seen Him, we have seen the Father. John chapter 4 is the story of the Samaritan women. The woman had left when she realized who Jesus was and told the Samaritans come see a man who told me everything I ever did. The disciples came back with food and they told Jesus to eat but Jesus said to them “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me.” I met men who fish and someone says about them “they would rather fish than eat!” Our Savior pretty much said the very same thing. Jesus would rather be pre-occupied with leading someone to Him rather than eating. He knew why His Father had sent Him into the world, and at that moment He was engaged in accomplishing that objective. Earlier Jesus has told the disciples that “He had need to go to Samaria”. Now, understand that Jews did not go to Samaria or even just go through Samaria but our Lord who knows everything knew that women would be at that well at noon in the hottest part of the day. Did He not tell us of the women who swept her house clean until she found that precious coin? And it was Jesus that told the story of the prodigal son and the father that ran to him when he came home pig stinking and broke when he had lost all of his father’s money. What was Jesus trying to get over to us in those three parables? That the main character in all those parables was God the Father. The Day Is At Hand

John 4:34: “Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.”

The disciples came back with food and they told Jesus to eat but Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me.” I met men who fish and someone says about them “they would rather fish than eat!”

Our Savior pretty much said the very same thing. Jesus would rather be pre-occupied with leading someone to Him rather than eating. He knew why His Father had sent Him into the world, and at that moment He was engaged in accomplishing that objective.

Earlier Jesus has told the disciples that “He had need to go to Samaria.” Now, understand that Jews did not go to Samaria or even just go through Samaria but our Lord who knows everything knew that women would be at that well at noon in the hottest part of the day.

Does this surprise you that our Lord would go out of His way to reach a soul that is lost? Did He not tell us of the shepherd who went after the Lost little lamb? Did He not tell us of the women who swept her house clean until she found that precious coin? And it was Jesus that told the story of the prodigal son and the father that ran to him when he came home pig stinking and broke when he had lost all of his father’s money.

What was Jesus trying to get over to us in those three parables? That the main character in all those parables was God the Father.

For Peter wrote II Peter 3:9:“The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.“
